Description: Vibration analysis of a cantilever beam with elastic support:
In this study, free vibration of cantilever beam is investigated when the free end of the beam is supported on a elastic support. A finite element program has been developed to calculate the natural frequency of the beam. The results of the program are validated with the results obtained from popular software ANSYS 12. The stiffness of the spring attached at the free end of the beam is varied from zero to a very high value. The first three natural frequencies obtained from the in house developed program and ANSYS 12 analysis are very close to each other.
In this study the FRF analysis has taken by considering 100 N force at the end of beam. A finite element program has been developed for the FRF analysis. The results of the FRF analysis obtained from the program are validated with the result from popular software ANSYS 12. A graph is plotted between the natural frequency & stiffness at the free end. From the graph one can easily predict the natural frequency for any intermediate stiffness at the free end.
