Atanu Deb is presently working in M S Swaminathan School of Agriculture, CUTM where he has been an Assistant Professor since January, 2017. Deb pursued his Ph.D. (Entitled as ‘Family Farms of East Singhbhum, Jharkhand: An empirical study’) from RKMVU and his undergraduate studies at Uttarbanga Krishi Viswavidyalaya (UBKV). He had qualified ASRB/ICAR – NET in Agricultural Extension. He also gained three years’ teaching experience (Agricultural Extension and Social Science) from RKMVU (2014-2016).
His research interests lie in the area of Family Farming, Livelihood, Women Empowerment and Institutional Role in Agriculture, Participatory Action Research in Agricultural Extension -----ranging from theoretical framework to implementation. He has collaborated actively with extension professionals in various other institutions like Literacy India, DRCSC, PRAVAH, Help age India etc.
Deb was the Organizing Secretory of a National Seminar on ‘Agriculture, Rural and Tribal Development: Facts and Facets- 2016’. He has served as the Project Coordinator in Literacy India (2012-2013). He served as a training coordinator of NYK- Ranchi (2016). He also worked as the Research Consultant (to study the impact of MGNREGA dug wells) with Jharkhand Government during 2014-15.
He was the editor of a Popular Magazine on Extension and Rural Development (entitled as KDB) during 2013-2016.
